Make-A-Blanket Sucess!
See what happens when we all work together?! Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild members donated 380 9-Patch blocks to be made into quilts for Project Linus. On Wednesday, February 22, four dedicated charity quilters gathered at "the lake house" for Project Linus Make-a-Blanket Make-Up Day and stitched together 19 beautiful quilt tops with the donated blocks! These tops are now on their way to a couple of generous volunteer quilters to be quilted. Many thanks to all who have helped with this project and if you haven't had a chance to help, never-fear, we will be looking for volunteers to help with bindings in the near future. Many hands do make light work and all for a very good cause!

Project Linus Make-A-Blanket Make-Up Day!
As you all know, a snow storm complicated our plans for Project Linus Make-A-Blanket Day, but the forecast looks a little more favorable now, so we are going to give it another try!
The 9 ½” (unfinished) 9-Patch blocks that guild members have made for Project Linus will be collected at Monday night’s guild meeting. Guild members are then invited to gather at “the lake house” on Wednesday, February 22 from 9:30 until 2:30 for Project Linus Make-A-Blanket Make-Up Day. Our goal for the day will be to see how many 9-Patch quilt tops we can sew together for Project Linus while enjoying each other’s company. Please bring a dish to pass for a potluck lunch, your sewing machine and usual sewing supplies.
Contact Dianne K., Project Linus Coordinator, or Susan Mc., Outreach Chairperson, with any questions.

Guild Meeting Monday February 20th
This is just a reminder that the next MLQG meeting will be held on Monday, February 20th at 7PM at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center in Wellsboro, PA. After the business meeting and show and tell, the subject of the program will be "Quilting Phraseology and MLQG Exhibit Update". Exhibit chairs will be helping members come up with ideas for the challenge category and will also present important updates on exhibit preparations. This is an important meeting for all MLQG members who plan to exhibit quilts in the September 2012 exhibit.

Beyond Jane Meeting
We had a great turnout for today's Beyond Jane meeting. Lots of quilting projects to see and be inspired by -- beautiful applique, a batik strip quilt, an Amish-style miniature quilt, fabric to fondle, etc. Even a knitting project or two.
Mark your calendars for the next open sewing meeting -- Tuesday, March 6th at the lake house. Come anytime inbetween 10:00 and 3:00. All guild members welcome!
