Spring Retreat at Watson Homestead, in Painted Post, NY

March 30th /31st to April 2nd 2017
Contacts: Carrie Smith, 570-592-7285 smithcw@corning.com
Linda Cook, 570-662-3313, lcook@ptd.net
Scheduled for Thursday March 30th through Sunday to April 2nd, 2017 at the Watson Homestead Conference and Retreat Center, 9620 Dry Run Road, Painted Post, NY 14870. Arrive Thursday, March 30th, or Friday, March 31st and sew until 3pm on Sunday, April 2nd. The Watson Homestead accommodations and food are top notch, and our sewing area in the main lodge lower level is large and well-lit with full-sized sewing tables and plenty of electrical outlets. The motel-style rooms in the west wing have two double beds and a private bath, and can accommodate a roll-away bed. Two of the other rooms available (north wing) have two single beds and a private bath; the remaining room type (south wing) sleeps four with 2 bunk beds and a restroom across the hall. In addition to the relaxing sewing and sharing, a masseuse will be available to provide chair massages for us on Sat. - especially nice after a day spent at the sewing machine! It’s always such a good time sewing, sharing, laughing, and relaxing together. This year we have opted not to play games.
Cost for a double occupancy hotel-style room is $186 for Friday and Saturday nights, extra $35 per person for Thursday. Included in the set prices are four to five meals (depending on when you arrive) provided by the retreat center: breakfast on Friday, three meals on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday. There is plenty of space in the fully equipped kitchen area for any snacks and treats we bring along! Thursday night Carrie and Linda will provide soup(s), salad & bread and any leftovers can be had for lunch or dinner on Friday. Otherwise all meals on Thursday are on your own as well as lunch and dinner on Friday.
Registration forms and deposit of $100 is due no later than the Feb. Guild meeting on 2/20 with the balance due no later than the March meeting on 3/20. Contact Carrie Smith or Linda Cook with any questions.

LOVE QUILTS
We all have the times in our lives when we make quilts; birthdays, weddings, new babies, graduations, etc. I am looking for some quilts that are a little more than that. If you have a quilt that you made because something touched your heart and you had to make a quilt to express that love, bring the quilt to the February guild meeting. Be prepared to tell what circumstance happened that made you make that quilt.

Open Sewing at the Gmeiner -- Monday, February 13th

Next Open Sewing Session
 Monday,  February 13th at the Gmeiner 10:00 - 2:00

All MLQG members of all ability levels and interests are welcome to attend the open sewing sessions at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center (where the monthly guild meetings are held) on Mondays 10:00 - 2:00 to work on any stitching projects, hand or machine, even knitting/crocheting/embroidery. The fourth Monday of the month is reserved for outreach sewing.

The purpose of these get-togethers is to spend time with other MLQG fiber fanatics and to learn from each other, no matter what we're all working on. Bring your projects, machine, and lunch. Stay for an hour or stay all day. Just be warned that if only a couple of people show up, we may pack up early and leave before noon. Cancellations will be posted on the guild's blog/website/Facebook page.

If you need more info contact Susan McC., Anya T., or Peggi Y., or comment on this blog post.
