Open Sewing at the Gmeiner -- Monday, October 2nd

Next Open Sewing Session

 Monday,  October 2nd at the Gmeiner 10:00 - 2:00

All MLQG members of all ability levels and interests are welcome to attend the open sewing sessions at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center (where the monthly guild meetings are held) on Mondays 10:00 - 2:00 to work on any stitching projects, hand or machine, even knitting, crocheting, or embroidery.

The purpose of these get-togethers is to spend time with other MLQG fiber fanatics and to learn from each other, no matter what we're all working on. Bring your projects, machine, and lunch. Stay for an hour or stay all day. Just be warned that if only a couple of people show up, we may pack up early and leave before noon. Cancellations will be posted on the guild's blog/website/Facebook page.

Several guild members' quilts were accepted into the Art Quilt Exhibit in the Atrium at the Gmeiner Art and Culture Center. The exhibit will open during First Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5-7 pm, along with the Wellsboro Art Club exhibit in the main gallery.
These are only a sampling of the quilters and quilts you can see!

Have you been thinking about how you can help your guild?

One of the best ways to enjoy Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild is to be involved and help make great things happen!  You can participate on any level you choose from being an officer or committee chair to working on a committee. 

The Nominating Committee is currently seeking volunteers to fill the following positions: TREASUER, NEWSLETTER, OUTREACH, MEMBERSHIP, NATIONAL SPEAKER/WORKSHOP, and HISTORIAN.

These are all one-year terms. New officers and chairpersons start their positions in January 2018.

Please contact Betty M., Sylvia L., or Susan Mc. before September 25th if you are interested in an office or chair or if you have a recommendation of someone we should contact about an open office or chair.

If you would like more information about a particular office or committee or if you would like to volunteer to work on a committee, please contact the current committee chair.

My Environment!  2018 Exhibit Challenge

When you think of what you are surrounded by, in your life, what comes to mind? Is it a chair you like to sit in, a room you frequent, a forest you walk? Is it people who are a part of you? A favorite pet or wild animal? Or is it more abstract - something within - that gives you joy and strength? What about your flower garden or your sewing room?
It can be large, but not too large(see size requirements) or it can be small. It can be practical or ethereal. You can search your time and space to arrive at your inspiration.
If you wish to discuss your ideas - I am happy to chat!

 Speaker for the evening, Deb Smith gives a presentation for Original T Bag Design, located in South Africa.  The guild members have been saving tea bags for Deb throughout the year.
