Our guild is in need of someone to fill the role of Publicity Chairperson for the 2020 term. The Publicity Chairperson works closely with the Newsletter Editor and E-Communications Team and is responsible for writing and sending press releases to local newspapers, specialty publications and media about monthly guild meetings and activities. This is one of the easiest and least time-consuming jobs within the guild and can be done from the comfort of your home computer or tablet. Can you fill this need? If so, contact MLQG president, Sylvia L. Her contact info can be found on the guild roster and every monthly newsletter.

Monday, September 9th at the Gmeiner 10:00 - 2:00
All MLQG members of all ability levels and interests are welcome to attend the open sewing sessions at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center (where the monthly guild meetings are held) on the first Monday of each month, 10:00 - 2:00, to work on any stitching projects, hand or machine, even knitting, crocheting, or embroidery.
The purpose of these get-togethers is to spend time with other MLQG fiber fanatics and to learn from each other, no matter what we're all working on. Bring your projects, machine, and lunch. Stay for an hour or stay all day. Just be warned that if only a couple of people show up, we may pack up early and leave before noon. Cancellations will be posted on the guild's blog/website/Facebook page.
If you need more info, contact Susan McC., Anya T., or Peggi Y., or use the "contact us" form on the right side of this blog.

Quilt Market Is Coming!!
This is just a reminder that MLQG's Quilt Market will be held on Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st.
What is Quilt Market? It's basically a pop-up shop where guild members will be selling quilts of all shapes and sizes, as well as quilted items such as placemats and pillows.
Please help spread the word to your friends, family, and other community members.
An email was sent to all MLQG members from Peggi Y. (the organizer of the event) with details about the market. If you missed it, here's what you need to know...
Members with goods to sell may drop off items at the Gmeiner on Thursday, August 29th, 1-4 PM OR Friday, August 30th, 1-4 PM when they can set up their own display. Peggi has price tags for you.
All sellers must fill out an inventory list and bring it to the Gmeiner with the items. Click here for the inventory list.
If you have offered display furniture, you may drop it off on Thursday (with your name on it, please), or contact Peggi to make other arrangements. Her contact info is on the guild's roster and in every newsletter.
We also need volunteers to help mind the store (two-hour shifts). Please contact Peggi if you can help. The Gmeiner's docents will handle the money. You just smile and chat with customers.
Thank you to all MLQG members who are participating!

One Block Wonder Worshop #2
The second One Block Wonder Workshop was so much fun! We met at the Elkland Library and found it to be a great space to meet and sew for the day. Everyone seemed to have a good time, and left with enough knowledge to finish their quilts at home (I hope!). A huge thankyou to Ann K for organizing the event and picking up some great subs for lunch! Yum!

MLQG July 2019 Meeting Show-and-Tell Photos
Take a look at some of the wonderful quilts shown at MLQG's July meeting. Apologies for the bad quality of the photos, but we had to deal with no power at the Gmeiner that evening, so lighting was almost non-existent.
