Art Quilts For Charity

2016 Art Quilts for ACS
"Dreaming Of A World Without Cancer"
The Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild will once again be quilting for a cause during the guild’s 2016 exhibit. Members are invited to help fight cancer by making an art quilt in memory of a victim, in honor of a survivor, or to simply raise money for the American Cancer Society of Tioga County. The rules are easy. Make a 9”x 12” art quilt using the theme, “dreams”. Any style, color, technique, and ability are welcome. All quilts entered in the “Dreaming Of A World Without Cancer” category will be offered for sale at the price of $25.00 each during the month of the exhibit. All profits will be donated to the American Cancer Society of Tioga County at the close of the exhibit.
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Complete rules and necessary guidelines can be found on the “Dreaming Of A World Without Cancer” entry form, which can be found under the 2016 Exhibit tab at the top of this page.  Paper copies of the entry form will also be available at the June, July, and August guild meetings.

Entry forms AND finished quilts should be given to Susan McC. on or before August 15, 2016.

Vote for the MLQG's 2016 Raffle Quilt Pattern

Below you will find three pattern considerations for the MLQG's 2016 raffle quilt.

Keep in mind that these patterns are examples only and not the actual patterns that the committee will be using. Sizes may be changed, borders may be changed or added, applique may also be changed or added as needed.

Please vote for your favorite pattern by checking the appropriate box in the ballot box located in the sidebar to the right.  Comments or suggestions may be made in the comment section below this post or by using the "Contact Us" form in the sidebar to the right.  You may also contact Eleanor F, Susan Mc, or Chris C. with any comments or suggestions. (Find contact information in the guild roster).

Voting will be open until Monday, April 20, 2015.  The winner will be announced at the April guild meeting.

#1 Delectable Mountain Star

This quilt would most likely be changed from a square to a rectangle to better fit a queen size bed.

#2 Ohio Star Variation

This quilt could possibly have some sort of applique added to the border.
It also would make a beautiful Christmas quilt.  Would making this quilt in holiday colors be something we should consider?

#3 Four-Patch with Applique Borders and Pillow Top

A basic four-patch would include all of our members in the making, from beginner to the most experienced!
Borders would most likely be added all the way around as well as more applique.

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED

THE WINNER IS...

#2 Ohio Star Variation

NEEDED - RAFFLE QUILT CHAIRPERSON

Every other year, guild members work together to create a quilt to be raffled off at the close of our biennial quilt exhibit. The Raffle Quilt brings in a significant amount of money that helps defray the operating costs of our guild.
It is now time to start working on the next raffle quilt to ensure it is completed before 2016.  To begin this process, the Exhibit Committee is seeking a member who is willing to take on the job of Raffle Quilt Chairperson.
The Raffle Quilt Chairperson is responsible for coordinating the completion of the Raffle Quilt. It is important to stress that the Raffle Quilt Coordinator is not solely charged with making the quilt, but managing the process to completion.
For more information or to volunteer for this position, please contact Susan Mc., 2016 Exhibit Chairperson (contact information can be found in the guild's roster).
