A Few Openings Remain for the November 9th Workshop/Mini-Retreat

There are still a few openings available for MLQG's "Bumble Bag" workshop in early November. Contact Outreach Chair Susan McC.  ASAP to sign up for the fun day!

It’s two great MLQG activities rolled into one!  MLQG will be holding a Workshop Mini-Retreat Combo on, Saturday, November 9th, at the First Presbyterian Church in Wellsboro, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The cost for the day is just $5.00!

For the workshop part of the combo, we will spend the morning making Bumble Bags for the Humble Bumble Project.  Bumble Bags are handmade drawstring bags that contain small items of comfort (lip balm, tissues, hard candy, hand sanitizer, etc.) for pediatrics and young adults who are receiving cancer treatments. The pattern, fabric, and instruction will be provided by MLQG Outreach.  Completed bags will be donated to the Humble Bumble project, a 501(c)(3) public charity, based in Tioga County, PA, dedicated to helping pediatric and young adult cancer patients and their families.

Bring your own lunch or order out from one of the local restaurants.  Snacks to share throughout the day are always welcome!

The afternoon will consist of the Mini-Retreat portion of the day.  Spend the afternoon working on your own projects or continue making Bumble Bags.  The choice is yours!

For more information or to sign up please contact Susan McC., Outreach Chair or Ann K., Workshop Chair. Contact info can be found on the guild's roster and in every issue of the guild's newsletter.

MLQG "Christmas in July" Mini-Retreat

MLQG members are invited to a one-day mini-retreat at the (air-conditioned) Masonic Lodge on Kelsey Street in Wellsboro on July 28th (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM). Bring your own projects and get some ideas for quick gifts. Perhaps a demo or two. Enjoy lunch, door prizes, and a fun time with sister guild members. Space is limited to 20, so reserve your spot today. Cost is $10 for MLQG members, $15 for non-members and includes soup, salad, and water for lunch. Feel free to bring snacks to share. You can spend the day working on whatever projects you like -- your own quilts or perhaps an outreach block/quilt or get started on Christmas projects. It's never too early!

We will set up a table for "free" stuff -- if you have quilting/sewing/fiber-related magazines, books, supplies, fabrics, etc., that you would like to offer up for free, please bring them to the mini-retreat.

Signups for MLQG members are underway NOW. If you would like to attend, please contact workshop chair Anya T.  You may pay Anya at the June 18th guild meeting. or send payment to her by snail mail (see your newsletter or guild roster for her contact info). Full payment due by July 16th (cash or checks made out to MLQG). Full refunds for cancellations until July 16th. After that, if there is no wait list, you are responsible for finding someone to take your place or forfeit your payment. Signups for non-MLQG members will begin on June 19th.

If you know for sure that you will be bringing only handwork (binding, applique, etc) and will not require an outlet or large table space, please let Anya know. We may be able to squeeze in a few more than 20 members that way.

And if you know some non-members who have thought about possibly joining, but haven't yet, this may be a good time for them to "test drive" MLQG.
