Stitching on the Green -- Thursday June 27th
The Wellsboro Growers' Market is in full swing, so we're meeting for "Stitching on the Green" Thursdays again this year. MLQG members are welcome to join fellow guild members on Thursdays (during good weather, of course) during the summer for an afternoon of stitching on the Green in Wellsboro. Bring your hand projects of any kind (quilting, knitting, embroidery, etc) and a chair...and your lunch, if you like. We start at about noon and then head down to the Growers' Market on the lawn of the First Presbyterian Church when it opens at 3:00. Come and leave any time you like. Look for fellow guild members on the part of the Green that faces the courthouse. All MLQG members of all ability levels welcome. Bring a friend!
Note that the "Stitching on the Green" sessions are weather dependent, so if there's rain, we probably won't be there.

Right now, the forecast is looking good for this Thursday, June 20th, (let's not jinx it here), so let's try for the first "Stitching on the Green" session for 2013. All MLQG members of all ability levels welcome. Bring a friend!

Exclusive Challenge Opportunity for MLQG Members
On Friday May 17th at our guild meeting, MLQG hosted Gyleen X. Fitzgerald for a trunk show and lecture, "The Art of Color Blending". Gyleen is in the process of writing yet another book, and has put forth a challenge EXCLUSIVELY for Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild members. The winner of the challenge will have a quilt featured in her upcoming book. This is a great opportunity for our membership, and we'd love to have you participate.
Tracy at Needles Quilt Shop in Wellsboro has the required fabric and tool in stock and ready to go. Please note that the deadline for the completion of the TOP is July 1. If your quilt top is chosen as the winner, you will have until later in the fall (September?) to quilt, bind and ship the completed quilt to Gyleen for the photo shoot for the book.
If you are planning to participate, please contact Ava K. (see your guild roster for contact info) so we can let Gyleen keep up with the fun! Also, let Ava know if you have any questions, and she can send them on to Gyleen.
Don't forget the winner also receives a $100 gift certificate for Needles Quilt Shop!
The rules can be found on the guild's website here (scroll down the page and then click on the link provided).
You can also see a photo of the fabric in the same place.
