Open Sewing at the Gmeiner in Wellsboro -- Monday, March 30th

MLQG's daytime open sewing officially moves to Mondays, starting on Monday, March 30th, 10:00 - 2:00. The new location is the back room of the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center (where the monthly guild meetings are held). There will be no more Wednesday sessions at the Masonic Lodge.

All MLQG members of all ability levels and interests are welcome to attend on open sewing Mondays and work on any stitching projects, hand or machine, even knitting/crocheting/embroidery. The fourth Monday of the month will be reserved for charity sewing.

The purpose of these get-togethers is to spend time with other MLQG fiber fanatics and to learn from each other, no matter what we're all working on. Bring your projects, machine, and lunch. Stay for an hour or stay all day. Just be warned that if only a couple of people show up, we may pack up early and leave before noon. And if the weather is iffy, only you can decide if it is safe for you to drive. Cancellations will be posted on the guild's blog/website/Facebook page.

If you need more info contact Susan McC., Dori S., Anya T., or Peggi Y. or comment on this blog post.

Vote for the MLQG's 2016 Raffle Quilt Pattern

Below you will find three pattern considerations for the MLQG's 2016 raffle quilt.

Keep in mind that these patterns are examples only and not the actual patterns that the committee will be using. Sizes may be changed, borders may be changed or added, applique may also be changed or added as needed.

Please vote for your favorite pattern by checking the appropriate box in the ballot box located in the sidebar to the right.  Comments or suggestions may be made in the comment section below this post or by using the "Contact Us" form in the sidebar to the right.  You may also contact Eleanor F, Susan Mc, or Chris C. with any comments or suggestions. (Find contact information in the guild roster).

Voting will be open until Monday, April 20, 2015.  The winner will be announced at the April guild meeting.

#1 Delectable Mountain Star

This quilt would most likely be changed from a square to a rectangle to better fit a queen size bed.

#2 Ohio Star Variation

This quilt could possibly have some sort of applique added to the border.
It also would make a beautiful Christmas quilt.  Would making this quilt in holiday colors be something we should consider?

#3 Four-Patch with Applique Borders and Pillow Top

A basic four-patch would include all of our members in the making, from beginner to the most experienced!
Borders would most likely be added all the way around as well as more applique.

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED

THE WINNER IS...

#2 Ohio Star Variation

Door Prize Choices for March 2015 Guild Meeting

MLQG members who have been coming regularly to monthly meetings know that we have a door prize drawing, but new members may not be familiar with how this works.

It's fairly simple -- at the start of the meeting, a basket is passed around and members who wish to participate are asked to take a ticket, drop the matching one in the basket, and contribute $1 for each ticket. The winner is drawn later in the evening. The holder of the winning ticket gets to choose one of two prizes. This month's choices are a Moda "Horizon" charm pack with a quilty button or a charm pack of "Downton Abbey Lord and Lady Collection" fabric. Click on the highlighted links to see what fabrics are included in the charm packs.

Guild members who buy a ticket (or two or three) help support the various activities that the guild provides. Even small fundraisers like this help to keep costs down for everyone. Thank you to all who have purchased door prize tickets in the past and who will continue to do so in the future.
