2026 MLQG Exhibit Challenge
"America The Beautiful"
Guild members are challenged to create a quilt (with a perimiter of no more than 100") using a line from the song "America The Beautiful" as inspiration.
America The Beautiful
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!
O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness,
And every gain divine!
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
Create “A Bit Of Whimsy”
For the Humble Bumble Project
The Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild will once again be quilting for a cause for the guild’s 2026 exhibit. Members are invited to help raise funds for the Humble Bumble Project by making a small wall quilt to be sold during the exhibit.
The rules are easy…just make a mini quilt! Quilts can be of any theme or style, but should be no larger than 9”x12” and no smaller than 8”x10”. All quilting styles, colors, techniques, and abilities are welcome!
All quilts submitted will be offered for sale at the price of $35.00 each during the month of the exhibit. All profits will be donated to the Humble Bumble Project at the close of the exhibit.
The Humble Bumble Project is a 501 (c)(3) public charity, based in Tioga County, PA, dedicated to helping pediatric and young adult cancer patients and their families. Learn more about the Humble Bumble Project and the services they offer at www.humblebumbleproject.com.
Complete rules and necessary guidelines can be found on the “A Bit Of Whimsy” entry form, which can be printed from the guild’s website.
Entry Forms and finished quilts should be given to Susan Mc. on or before August 19, 2026.
