One-Block Wonder Workshops
MLQG member Kathy P. will teach two workshops on the One-Block Wonder quilt in the upcoming months.
The first workshop will be held on Saturday, June 8th at the Wellsboro Community Center from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. NOTE THAT THIS SESSION IS FULL.
The second workshop will be held on Saturday, August 17th at the Elkland Library. There are still openings in this session.
The cost is $15 for MLQG members and $20 for non-members. The cost covers the fabric for the class, lunch, and water. The class is limited to eight students per session.
For members who are not familiar with the one-block wonder pattern, it is a method of stacking fabrics so that the repeats line up. This allows you to make a kaleidoscope effect with six layers of fabric. The six triangles can be make into different designs. Kathy is supplying the fabric because it will be easier for her to teach the workshop with everyone working from the same fabric design.
Kathy also recommends watching videos done by Jackie O'Brien prior to the workshop. Click here for the website.
To sign up for the August workshop or to get on the waiting list for June, contact MLQG workshop chair Ann K. Her contact info can be found on your copy of the guild's roster and newsletters.

Open Sewing at the Gmeiner -- Monday, May 6th
Next Open Sewing Session
Monday, May 6th at the Gmeiner 10:00 - 2:00
Guild members of all ability levels are also welcome to bring their own projects to work on during the monthly open sewing sessions at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center (where the monthly guild meetings are held) on the first Monday of each month, 10:00 - 2:00, to work on any stitching projects, hand or machine, even knitting, crocheting, or embroidery.
The purpose of these get-togethers is to spend time with other MLQG fiber fanatics and to learn from each other, no matter what we're all working on. Bring your projects, machine, and lunch. Stay for an hour or stay all day. Just be warned that if only a couple of people show up, we may pack up early and leave before noon. Cancellations will be posted on the guild's blog/website/Facebook page.
If you need more info, contact Susan McC., Anya T., or Peggi Y., or use the "contact us" form on the right side of this blog.
At this month's open sewing, members are welcome to help with making blocks for the guild's 2020 raffle quilt. For more info on that, check the blog post from May 2nd. Of course, members may also bring their own projects to work on during open sewing.
