Humble Bags and Humble Haversacks!

During the guild's Christmas party, we gathered Humble Bumble Bags and Humble Haversacks. These bags are donated to the Humble Bumble Project, which then fills the Bumble Bags with gift cards and essential supplies for cancer patients. Meanwhile, the Humble Haversacks are packed with self-care items specifically for caregivers. To discover more about this meaningful initiative, feel free to visit the 'Outreach Projects' section on the guild's blog.

Humble Haversacks

When a loved one unexpectedly falls seriously ill, it is often a family member who steps into the role of caregiver, frequently without any prior experience or preparation. The Humble Bumble Project aims to support these caregivers by offering them a thoughtful resource known as the Humble Haversack. Each of these handcrafted bags is thoughtfully filled with essential items, including a caregiver's guide, a journal for personal reflections, a travel water bottle, and various self-care products. The intention behind this initiative is to remind caregivers of the importance of self-care, emphasizing that they cannot effectively support others if they neglect their own well-being.

You can contribute to this meaningful project by creating a Humble Haversack using just a few fabric scraps and dedicating about thirty minutes of your time. The Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild's blog provides a free pattern, located under the 'Outreach Projects' tab, that makes it easy for anyone to get involved. By participating in this initiative, you not only help provide practical support to caregivers but also show them that they are not alone in their journey.

The Humble Bumble Project is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity located in Tioga County, PA, with a mission focused on assisting pediatric and young adult cancer patients and their families. Through their efforts, they strive to alleviate some of the burdens faced by caregivers and patients alike, fostering a sense of community and compassion during challenging times.

2025 Spring Retreat Information

2025 Spring Retreat Information

Sign-ups and money due will start at the January meeting. Please make sure if you sign up, you are able to make it to retreat. There are medical emergencies that come up, but just changing your mind or another issue will require finding someone to take your place. Linck Hill has been very good with being flexible, but they do base food and amenities on the numbers. Once I submit the paperwork, they start planning food, rooms, etc. for us. Please be respectful of the time and effort it takes for them to prepare to have us.

ANY AND ALL FOOD ALLERGIES ARE TO BE DISCLOSED AT SIGN UPS!

Also needed will be your name and contact number, and emergency contact and phone number.

It has been discussed to have matching t-shirts made. Please have your shirt size available at sign up. If anyone not going to retreat would like a t-shirt, please sign up. I do not have a final price per shirt. It will depend on how many are ordering. I'm thinking $20 give or take.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far. Now, for details...
