Open Sewing at the Gmeiner -- Monday, March 19th

Next Open Sewing Session
 Monday,  March 19th at the Gmeiner 10:00 - 2:00

All MLQG members of all ability levels and interests are welcome to attend the open sewing sessions at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center (where the monthly guild meetings are held) on Mondays 10:00 - 2:00 to work on any stitching projects, hand or machine, even knitting, crocheting, or embroidery.

The purpose of these get-togethers is to spend time with other MLQG fiber fanatics and to learn from each other, no matter what we're all working on. Bring your projects, machine, and lunch. Stay for an hour or stay all day. Just be warned that if only a couple of people show up, we may pack up early and leave before noon. Cancellations will be posted on the guild's blog/website/Facebook page.

If you need more info contact Susan McC., Anya T., or Peggi Y., or comment on this blog post.

March Guild Meeting Coming Up

This month's MLQG meeting will be held on Monday, March 19th, starting at 7:00 PM at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center in Wellsboro, PA. We'll have "show and tell" after a short business meeting, followed by a trunk show by MLQG member Sylvia Smith. Her program is called "What These Quilts Have Taught Me".

If you took a "Stone Soup" quilt kit at the February meeting, don't forget to bring it with you this month! Remember, it doesn't have to be finished.

Wear your name tags and bring a guest!

And last, but not least, you must pay your dues by the March 19th guild meeting in order to continue to receive the monthly newsletter and other guild benefits. Most importantly, if you wish to enter your quilts in this year's exhibit at the Gmeiner, you must pay your $20 annual dues by March 19th.

Members Gather for Outreach Project

MLQG members gathered at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center in Wellsboro yesterday to make cooling neckties to send to hurricane relief workers in Texas. Over 70 neckties were completed in the session. Great work, ladies!

If you weren't able to attend yesterday's workshop, but would still like to contribute, directions can be found by clicking here.

Ava K. will be collecting finished neckties at the mini-retreat on March 17th and at the March 19th guild meeting.

For MLQG Members

Are you on Facebook? If so, have you liked MLQG on Facebook? It's a great place to keep up with various guild events. If you haven't liked us yet, you can do so by clicking on the link on the right side of this blog.

And once you like the guild's main page, you have the option of joining a private Facebook group for members.

The new private Facebook group is called the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild - The Virtual Quilting Bee!  This group is a place where MLQG members can post photos of finished quilts and works in progress, ask quilting questions, and share all things quilt-related with their quilting sisters. This is a private group so only members can see what you post there. Those posts will not show up for your FB friends to see...a nice feature if you are working on a quilt that you don't want to go public!  To join in the fun click on the "Groups" link on the guild's Facebook page, answer the simple question, and you will be added to the group.

Come on, give it a try!
