MLQG Hostesses Needed for September Exhibit
MLQG Volunteers Needed -- The Gmeiner will be open from 2 PM to 5 PM every day from September 6th through the 28th. We will need two hostesses for each of those days and you will work with a Gmeiner docent that will open and close for you. The hostess’s job is to help the guests enjoy the display of our quilts, ask them to sign our guest book and offer the program and ballots. You are there to answer questions and to walk around while keeping an eye on things and to make sure no one touches the quilts. You can use this day as your day to view all of the quilts in the show. You will also be selling raffle tickets for the raffle quilt. Don’t forget to bring along your name tag and some hand work.
There are 46 time slots to fill with only 13 filled and over 140 members in the club. Please contact Debbie P. to let her know when you would like to help out (contact info on your roster), or just comment on this blog post. She will be in touch to remind you when it is your time to work. Thanks!

Colors of Cancer Q & A
Does my quilt have to be all one color?
Your quilt may be all one color if you wish, but it does not have to be monochromatic. Just be sure to represent the cancer color of your choice in the quilt, binding, or backing.
Does my quilt have to be exactly 9" x 12"?
Your quilts do not have to be exact in size. Quilts can be slightly larger or smaller in either direction, but because we are asking the same price for each quilt we would like for them all to be about the same size, so please try to make them as close to 9" x 12" as possible.
Can I make more than one quilt?
Absolutely! The more quilts we have for sale, the more money we can raise for the American Cancer Society!
What do I write for my Artist's Statement?
That's the easy part! Most importantly tell about why you were motivated to make a Colors for Cancer quilt. What does your design represent? What techniques did you use to make your quilt?
I won't be at the August guild meeting. Can I drop my Colors of Cancer quilt and entry form off with my other entries on the 30th?
No, all Colors of Cancer quilts and entry forms need to be given to Susan Mc. on or before August 18th to ensure enough time to prepare the quilts for hanging and process labels.
What if my quilt doesn't sell during the month of the exhibit?
We are confident that these beautiful works of art are going to fly off the walls! However, if we should end up with a number of unsold quilts they will be offered for sale to guild members by silent auction during the October meeting. Of course, any money raised through a silent auction will go to the American Cancer Society.
Any other questions about the Colors of Cancer quilts?

New Group Project for MLQG
Our guild members have been involved in making three lovely comfort quilts for fellow members in the last few months, so let's work on a group project that helps lift our spirits.
MLQG will soon celebrate its 16th birthday and 8th exhibit, so it's time we had an identifying banner to display at various public events. Several guild members have volunteered to help put one together, but we really want to involve as many MLQG members as possible.
Since our guild consists of members who quilt in a variety of styles, we want our guild banner to represent our quilting diversity. We're asking members to be a part of this project by making a 6 1/2-inch block (unfinished size), using your own colors, your own fabrics, etc. Make a block that represents you. Use any pattern or technique you like. No rules except for the size -- 6 1/2-inch unfinished (please be sure to measure the block before you send it off).
Blocks can be given to Anya T. at any of the July Wednesday open sewing sessions at the Masonic Lodge in Wellsboro or at the July 28th guild meeting at the Gmeiner at the latest. Or, if you prefer, you can mail them to Anya (check your guild roster for mailing address).
Let's get started!

Over 100!
Shown in the photo are 6 quilts and 7 fleece blankets that were delivered
to CONCERN this week. That brings our total of quilts/blankets donated
to foster kids to 110 since we started this project in January of 2013! This is an ongoing guild
project as children,
unfortunately, are always going into foster care, so please continue to
support
the kids with your quilts and blankets. More information about quilts
for
CONCERN can be found by clicking on the Community Projects tab at the top of this page.
