Outreach "Quilt Start to Finish" Workshop
Outreach "Quilt Start to Finish" Workshop
We are off to the races with this outreach workshop! We will be using a variation of the jelly roll race quilt to make quilts for several of the charities that the guild supports. The checkered flag drops at 10:00 and in less than an hour quilt tops will start crossing the finish line! Of course, since it's a race, you know there will be prizes! Once our tops are finished we will work on our quilting skills by quilting our tops. We will discuss different basting methods and quilting options from simple straight lines to free motion. If you prefer to quilt your top at home, you're welcome to make another top, or two, or three, or work on your own project for the afternoon.
Saturday, February 24th, 10:00 AM
First Presbyterian Church, 130 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA
$10.00 members/ $15 non-members
Cost includes all fabric, batting, and backing.
Lunch will be provided.
Contact Susan Mc. or Greta Marie T. for more information or to register.

A Quilt Show in an Hour – A Bed Turning by the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild
The guild will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this month, and as part of that celebration we are planning a bed turning to take place at the Gmeiner on Friday, September 29th (7:00 PM) and Saturday, September 30 (1:00 PM).
At the bed turning, the guild will highlight quilts made by some of its charter members and presidents, as well as some past raffle quilts made by many members of the guild over the years. The audience will hear the stories behind the quilts and what inspired the quiltmakers to make them. There will be quilts of all styles, colors, and fabrics, traditional and modern.
This should be a fun and inspirational event for quilters and non-quilters alike, so be sure to mark your calendars and tell your friends. Light refreshments will be served.
Remember -- Friday, September 29th at 7:00 PM and Saturday, September 30th at 1:00 PM (admission is free)

Thank You!
The generosity of quilters has come through again! Thanks to MLQG members and non-members, along with several local quilt shops, quilters in our area donated fabric and cut supplies that are now on their way to Uganda for Days For Girls. Instructors will use these supplies to teach women in Uganda how to make sanitary kits. Thanks to everyone who worked to make this shipment possible!
The Days For Girls need for September is 9" x 9" PREWASHED 100% flannel squares. They are asking that all flannel be prewashed due to shrinkage issues. Please prewash your fabrics, if you are able. Squares should be dropped off at Scheetz Sew Creative in Wellsboro, PA by Saturday, September 30th.

Outreach Update
Thank you to everyone who has been cutting fabric to send to Uganda to help Days For Girls! Tricia will be packing for her trip soon, so please have your donations at Scheetz Sew Creative Quilt Shop in Wellsboro before Friday, August 25th.
Please note that Charity Sew scheduled for Wednesday, August 30, at Scheetz Sew Creative has been cancelled. Our next Charity Sew will be Wednesday, September 27th, at 10:30.
If you would like to do some charity sewing at home, there is an immediate need for small (40ish x 50ish) patriotic quillts for local veterans entering into hospice care. The free pattern, Quick Strippie, at https://maryquilts.com/quick-strippie/ works very well for this project. All you need is a yard each of red, white, and blue fabric and and couple of hours to complete a top.
Thanks again to everyone, members and non-members, who support the guild's outreach projects. We truly are making a difference one stitch at a time!
