Outreach Update

Changes to Charity Sew

Charity Sew will be held Wednesday, September 27th beginning at 10:30 at Scheetz Sew Creative in Wellsboro, PA.  Due to changes to the workspace we will be spending this time cutting fabrics and preparing kits for outreach projects to be sewn at home.  Please bring your favorite rotary cutter and ruler if you would like to help.

Veteran Quilts

There is an immediate need for small (40ish x 50ish) patriotic quillts for local veterans entering into hospice care. The free pattern, Quick Strippie, at https://maryquilts.com/quick-strippie/ works very well for this project. All you need is a yard each of red, white, and blue fabric and and couple of hours to complete a top.  To date, over 15 quilts have been distributed to local veterans this year.

Days For Girls

The generosity of quilters has come through again!  Thanks to MLQG members and non-members, along with several local quilt shops, quilters in our area donated fabric and cut supplies that are now on their way to Uganda for Days For Girls.  Instructors will use these supplies to teach women in Uganda how to make sanitary kits.  Thanks to everyone who worked to make this shipment possible!
The Days For Girls need for September is 9" x 9" PREWASHED 100% flannel squares. They are asking that all flannel be prewashed due to shrinkage issues.  Please prewash your fabrics, if you are able.  Squares should be dropped off at Scheetz Sew Creative in Wellsboro, PA by Saturday, September 30th.

An Outreach Project For Everyone

Just a reminder that all of the guild's outreach projects continue through the year.  Please follow your heart and support one or all of the great charities to which the guild donates items...Bumble Bags and port pillows for the Humble Bumble Project, placemats for Meals on Wheels, pillow cases for Hershey Children's Hospital or Goodies for our Troops, fabrics for Days For Girls, and quilts for veterans, elders, and children.  Find the details for all of these projects on the guild's blog, https://mountainlaurelquiltguild.blogspot.com under the Outreach Projects tab.
